100% Office Explores The Office Of The Future

1002525DesignGeneralRelease4The days of the corner office are numbered. There’s no denying that contemporary offices continue to evolve as the very nature of the way we work changes. Gone are the large, and largely vacant boardrooms, in favour of smaller meeting rooms and breakaway areas. Open plan configurations, “hot desking” and co-working spaces are the order of the day, as real estate and office rental costs escalate. New technology has favoured smaller, mobile laptop computing systems that make large desks and dedicated workstations redundant.

As more and more offices move in this direction, interior designers have adapted the way they work to embrace Activity-Based Work principles. According to Aidan Hart, Creative Director of Inhouse Brand Architects: “The latest office design thinking contends that collaboration happens at the water-cooler and does not necessarily need to tie up an office space or a meeting room that has been earmarked for client use, and often stands empty for most of the day.”

Inhouse Brand Architects is one of South Africa’s foremost proponents of this new wave of office design. Inhouse, with offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and London, has created convention-busting offices for large corporate companies such as Old Mutual, Sanlam, Regent Insurance and a myriad others, here on our shores, as well as UK projects for Bupa and John Brown Media London. The studio will bring their design vision to 100% Office – one of the standout, curated features of 100% Design South Africa, the country’s most acclaimed local and international design show.

For the feature design, Inhouse plans a head-turning concept office executed in collaborate with premium office brands such as Inova Contracts, known for a range of soundproof pods; award-winning office furniture company, Ergoform; and leading flooring and fittings company, Florstore OnTrend.

The 100% Office stand is located in a dedicated section of the hall, flanked by a host of office-oriented companies showcasing the latest directions for commercial, corporate and home office designs.

Visitors can engage with dedicated workplace design companies including progressive international brand, Haworth. Not to be missed is Haworth’s collaboration with celebrated global designer Patricia Urquiola, the visionary behind the company’s Feather Seater and Chic Pouf.

Also on view are desking and seating solutions from JNM Furniture, and luxurious commercial carpets and carpet tiles from Monn. It’s all on show at 100% Design South Africa, which takes place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Joburg from 5-9 August 2016.

An exclusive trade-only morning will take place on 5 August, thereafter the show will be open to all. 100% Design South Africa takes place alongside Decorex Joburg, but is located in its own hall. As a bonus for visitors, one ticket covers entrance to both shows. A hit of design inspiration not to be missed!
