SHA appoints a new executive head to streamline claims business

Janine Janse van Vuuren

Stalker Hutchinson Admiral (SHA) Specialist Underwriters in a continued drive to enhance business operations recently appointed Janine Janse van Vuuren as the Executive Head Claims: PI and Liability.

Van Vuuren, who was promoted from within the business will be responsible for the strategic management of casualty claims with a focus on improved risk management, greater controls, and improving SHA’ s technical capabilities. Implementing these efficiencies will streamline operations and improve the customer service experience.

Gareth Beaver Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at SHA comments on van Vuuren’s new role and states that she will be responsible for the most important client experience aspects of SHA and will also be accountable for the largest expense item in the company’s income statement. “Janine has both a proven technical competence and a personal passion for excellence in delivering client service which are critical requirements for her new role. We have no doubt that Janine is going to make a hugely positive change in managing our Casualty and Claims team.”

She first began working for the company in 2008 and had the privilege of working under one of the doyens of the insurance industry in the technical division. She then took a short break and later returned to SHA to set up their in-house legal department offering internal legal services to the Claims Department.  She was appointed as the Head of legal and compliance in 2013 and two years later was appointed as the Head of claims. Prior to joining SHA, van Vuuren worked as a practising attorney for 11 years before leaving the legal profession to become a senior legal advisor at Medscheme Holdings.

Van Vuuren holds a BLC degree from the University of Pretoria, an LLB from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and has completed a Programme in Short Term Insurance from UNISA.

“My intention is to improve the customer service experience of our valued clients by sharing my passion for insurance along with my technical knowledge of casualty insurance with my team. With a strong focus on strategic business imperatives, I aim to position SHA as the preferred casualty insurance provider within the South African market. My big dream is to make a meaningful impact on the insurance sector by equipping young individuals with the right skills.” concludes van Vuuren.
