Manufacturers of locally-produced goods in southern Africa need the support of both the local and international community. These often-overlooked products are every bit as good as their global counterparts. This is according to Eric Bruggeman, CEO of the South African Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC).
Endorsed by the premier of Gauteng, David Makhura, and organised by SACEEC in collaboration with Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, the inaugural Local Southern African Manufacturing Expo (LME) will be held at the Expo Centre, Nasrec from 21 to 23 May 2019.
‘Not only is LME 2019 being held during Africa Week, but it is also supported by AREI (Association of Representatives for the Electronics Industry) and the dti (Department of Trade & Industry). We have engaged with and gained commitment from 35 countries who will be sending inward buying missions to LME 2019 to experience what the local manufacturing sector has to offer.
‘Exhibitors can look forward to interacting with potential buyers from South America, US, Canada, Australia, a large number of European countries, various African countries and the Middle East. In addition, we are expecting a large number of procurement specialists from the public and private sectors in South Africa,’ says Bruggeman.
LME will provide an interactive, educational and practical platform for both exhibitors and visitors to discuss and create sustainable solutions, through the best that Southern African industry has to offer. Local manufacturers are urged to reserve their stand space as soon as possible as available slots are going fast.
