SA GDP grows by 0.8% q/q (saar), expected to improve

By Matlhodi Matsei, FNB Economist. 4Q18 GDP grew by 1.4% q/q (saar), higher than consensus forecasts, but below our expectations of 2.2%. 3Q18 GDP was upwardly revised to 2.6% from 2.2% previously. This brings the full-year 2018 GDP print to 0.8%, notably lower compared to the 1.4% recorded in 2017.
