Shifts in containerboard supply affects Mpact

Mpact released a trading statement on 23 May 2016. The company’s shareholders were advised that its basic earnings per share (EPS) and headline earnings per share (HEPS) for the six months ending 30 June 2016 are expected to be at least 20 percent lower than the EPS and HEPS for the six months ended 30 June 2015.

Government ministers support Mpact’s recycled PET plant

On 10 May 2016, Edna Molewa, Minister of Environmental Affairs, officially unveiled Mpact Polymers in Wadeville, Germiston. The new bottle-to-bottle facility will produce recycled PET (rPET), which is a raw material used to manufacture PET bottles. The material is a substitute for virgin PET, which is derived from crude oil.
