Diarise The Urban Design Conference In March

The Urban Design Institute of  South Africa will be presenting the Re-Imagine Urbanism Debate Series in March this year. This year the conference will focus on URBAN+TRANS+FORMATION: Considering a Vision for the African Inner Cities.

The conference seeks to bring together professionals in the industry from across the continent and the world. Confirmed keynote speakers include:

Jeff Shumaker – Chief Urban Designer of New York City

Dr. Ombrietta Romice – University of Strathclyde

Prof. Maria Fernanda Derntl – University of Brasilia

Tony Asaro – Architect and urban planner for Ghana

The Conference takes place from 29-31 March at Freedom Park in Tshwane.

It is a three-day event. Days one and two will have lectures in the morning and guided bus tours to selected sites in Gauteng in the afternoon. Day three will consist of a workshop and two presentations.

The objects of the Urban Design Institute of South Africa are to promote greater public awareness of the value and need for urban design and to develop its educational, institutional and professional capacity and potential.
