This year has been both transformative and challenging, offering many opportunities for growth, innovation, and sustainability. In this issue, we explore significant acquisitions, like Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited’s (SCIL) strategic move to acquire the Heubach Group. This merger aims to create a global pigment powerhouse by combining SCIL’s robust operations with Heubach’s technological prowess.

Closer to home, water scarcity remains a pressing issue, especially for our members in South Africa and the SADC region. The increasing need for sustainable water management practices is crucial for maintaining production efficiency and quality. This challenge highlights the need for water-efficient technologies and sustainable practices, which we explore in depth.

I also had the opportunity to discuss the exciting developments at SAPMA. Benn, SAPMA’s executive director, shares the association’s 2024 achievements, including doubled attendance at Coatings for Africa and proactive efforts in training and compliance.
