• Food Review August 2021

In recent years, there has been a global shift towards healthy eating, which has led to a rise in consumer interest in plant-based meat alternatives and plant-based diets.

However, this increase has not only been driven by a rise in vegetarianism and veganism, but a steep increase in consumers adopting a flexitarian diet, in which they are choosing to eat less meat and more plant-based substitutes but not cut meat out of their diet completely. According to the US state of the industry report by GFI, in 2019, there was a 31% increase in the retail sales of plant-based meat substitutes as compared to only 5% for actual meat products. The good news is that the increased interest in finding plant- based meat alternatives presents amazing opportunities for the F&B industry and we explore some of these in this issue.

Read all about the increasing opportunities for creating plant-based meat alternatives on Page 12. We also have all the latest technology to help you embark on your plant-based manufacturing journey.
