The DIY Awards, now in its twelfth year is an annual affair that usually takes place during an industry get together. This year, for a second time in a row, a formal function was not possible due to the Corona pandemic, but this did not prevent the awards from going ahead.
Once again, hardware retailers and suppliers nominated their industry role players in each category. Retailers were then able to vote for their favourites. The votes were tallied and in December 2021 the winners were announced.
DIY & Industrial Trade News editor, Johann Stadler thanked the industry for participating and for playing a vital role in the economy amid a global pandemic. “Now in its twelfth year, the DIY Awards offers a chance for us to honour and recognise those who work so hard to supply the industry with quality products, services, advice and make it possible for all to continue with the business, build a country, its economy and create vital jobs.
For all businesses, the past two years have been challenging, and this will continue for the foreseeable future with Covid-19 tightening the brakes on the global economy and especially at home. Importing products timeously has become a massive problem, with the price of many items increasing considerably and rising fuel prices not making it easier for anyone. Many of you were left with difficult choices and had to make various sacrifices to keep doors open.
