DSM showcases Light Medical Beauty options

DSM’s Personal Care & Aroma Ingredients business unit, one of the industry’s leading suppliers to the personal care, home care and fine fragrance markets, showcased non-invasive topical solutions and a new substantiation for its bioactive ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO at PCHi, booth 4D28 on 26 to 28 February 2019.

DSM-ScutellariaBeing in control of our appearance goes beyond leading a healthy lifestyle. Good nutrition and exercise are important, but high-efficacy, topical skin care products also offer ways to achieve the looks we desire. “Light Medical Beauty” refers to an emerging trend for non-invasive cosmetic options that give immediate and visible effects. At this year’s PCHi, DSM will focus on three non-invasive beauty trends possibilities: whitening, lifting, and hydration. Fabrice Guillemard, regional marketing lead, provided insights into the trend for light medical beauty at a talk on 26 February. There was also a talk entitled “From Consumer Insights to Suncare Formulation Development” with Eve Chen, regional senior lab technician on 27 February.

New breakthrough findings show how ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO relieves urban stress for incomparable skin comfort

ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO includes the exclusive and rare Alpine plant species Scutellaria alpina.

In a discovery which is new to the cosmetics industry, DSM’s latest in-vitro studies now prove that ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO activates GABAB receptors, thus protecting against skin barrier damage and reducing skin irritation and pain sensation. The bioactive also stimulates the release of β-endorphins, these 2 key neuromediators help to calm and soothe sensitive skin.

Furthermore, a four-week in vivo study conducted in a very harsh, polluted environment in Beijing confirmed ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO’s excellent ability to protect the skin barrier, keep the skin looking healthy and relieve dullness, even after strong environmental stress.

ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO: organic and fair trade certified and sustainable

In addition to its unique chemical profile and high scutellarin content, ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO is fully sustainable and traceable. The entire ALPAFLOR line is organically cultivated at high altitude in a very pure, unspoiled environment and DSM actively contributes to the protection and preservation of these areas and their plants. Our local and short supply chain has received Fair for Life fair trade certification for sustainable sourcing. In addition, ALPAFLOR SCUTELLARIA AO is Halal certified, COSMOS and NATRUE organic certified, listed in China (IECSC and IECIC) and compliant for vegan products.
