Entries open for the 2015 New Product Competition

Entries are now open for the 2015 Food Review/Symrise New Product Competition. Entry forms are now available here.

If you believe your product is ground-breaking, then you can’t afford not to parade it amongst its peers in this year’s NPC. The deadline for entries is 29 May 2015.

There’s never been more incentive to enter. This year’s competition offers you the chance to showcase your new product – which was launched from 1 January 2014 until 1 May 2015 and must be available on South African retail shelves – but also promises unprecedented exposure for all the entrants and, obviously, the winners. For more information, contact Natalie Da Silva at [email protected].

The overall winner of the 2015 NPC will be invited to explore SIAL 2016, including return airfare, accommodation and entry into the show, which is being held in Paris, France from 16 to 20 October 2016. SIAL offers a comprehensive view of the food industry: from manufacturing processes and ingredients, right down to the finished product. Apart from the floating trophy, the trip, publicity in our print and online editions, the overall winner will be given official endorsement by the 2015 NPC and will be able to flaunt this status on their packaging and communication materials.

Now in its 21st year, the lauded event just gets better and better, and the quantity and quality of the entries is something to crow about. Previously, the NPC was only open to South African manufacturers, but in 2011, it was extended to include international brands too.

The judging day

Competition entries will be independently evaluated by a panel of expert judges; all highly regarded specialists in formulation, marketing, regulation and packaging for the food and beverage industries.

When judging is complete, each entrant will receive a comprehensive, professional and unbiased assessment of their product. Additionally, they’ll receive coverage in Food Review – both in the printed magazine and on the website.

The glamorous awards function will be hosted in September 2015, where trophies will be presented to the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up in the following categories:

  • Overall – an individual product or range of products that scored the highest marks amongst all products entered into the competition
  • Individual – the highest scoring product that is used on its own, and is not part of a range
  • Range – the highest scoring range of products that are part of a collection by one manufacturer
  • Packaging – a product or range of products that is packaged in an outstanding, efficient and innovative way
  • Editor’s choice – Food Review editor Maryke Foulds will choose the product that most impressed her
