Eskom stability now of key importance - Solidarity

Trade union Solidarity today said that it is now key that Eskom, the national electricity utility, puts stability first. This comes after Eskom’s former CEO, Brian Molefe, has been reappointed to his previous post after much controversy.

According to Deon Reyneke, deputy general secretary of Solidarity’s Energy Industry, Molefe resigned under a dark cloud and he has now again been appointed under the same suspicious circumstances.

Reyneke stated that the circumstances leading to Molefe’s reappointment are not yet known. “As Solidarity we will, however, engage in purposeful talks with Eskom to ensure that the utility’s daily operation continues undisturbed,” Reyneke said.

“As always, we will continue to act in our members’ interests and will try to smooth any uncertainties they may have as a result of this development,” Reyneke confirmed.
