EyeC Proofiler Graphic is an excellent example of a forward-thinking and innovative solution, which can help packaging printers save valuable resources and deliver high quality products more efficiently. This case study in efficient pre-press inspection reveals how.
The Edelmann Group designs and produces high-quality, sustainable and individual packaging solutions made of cardboard and paper for healthcare and beauty products and consumer brands.
To guarantee product quality during the pre-press control process, the group uses the EyeC Proofiler Graphic. Transferring customer data to a print template is always a delicate process, where graphical variations and manual review processes can delay production and cause errors. Through the automated inspection of the print files, any rework and complaint costs can be prevented.
EyeC Proofiler Graphic is a sophisticated inspection technology that can further automate the inspection process and guarantee 100% accuracy. It is also fast, efficient and secure. Simple integration into the existing workflow ensures that employees can work independently with the new system as quickly as possible.
“It was crucial for us to find an inspection solution that not only ensures accuracy, but also suits the people operating the system,” describes Marcus Czogalla, head of the pre-press and CTP department at Edelmann.
After evaluating various providers, considering all professional, technical and economic requirements, the company decided on the EyeC Proofiler Graphic as an automated inspection solution.
“We’ve been working successfully with EyeC for many years and have once again been convinced that it is the best possible option for us,” Czogalla adds.
Pre-press inspection expansion
EyeC Proofiler Graphic automatically compares the entire content of print-ready files or step-and-repeat files with an authorised print template. Unlike the human eye, the system detects every error within the print-ready PDF files. All kinds of deviations can be identified before the printing plates are manufactured. Texts, graphics, Braille as well as 1D and 2D codes are checked graphically in one inspection run. The inspection system automatically detects all elements in a PDF file and displays the object-based deviations to the user.
Thanks to the intuitive user interface, complete inspections can be done in just a few steps. The complete documentation of all results and the output of a comprehensive report at the end of each inspection enable complete traceability and results tracking. “We are particularly impressed with the user-friendliness and easy handling of the system, as well as the numerous tools and setting options,” he comments.
Quality and service you can trust
For over 10 years, EyeC and the Edelmann Group have been working together on pre-press and CTP for the graphic and content checking of PDF data and PDF full pages. Every new order and all artworks go through an extensive inspection process before being sent to the platesetter. Ten multi-user licenses also enable employees easy access to the system from international locations. In addition to the high level of user-friendliness, Czogalla also highlights the reliable support of EyeC’s service department as a decisive factor.
“The quality of EyeC’s team is unique. Our contacts are knowledgeable, responsive and – just like the Edelmann Group – always approach things individually without losing sight of the big picture.”
With the implementation of the EyeC system, processing data has been made more efficient, while reducing the risk of graphical deviations. Waste and recalls can thus be effectively avoided, and the security of data and processes can be significantly increased.
“An additional testing instance in the prepress department is not necessary with the EyeC Proofiler Graphic, which enables the production data to be processed even faster,” Czogalla adds. “The testing process is not only fast and reliable but also reproducible and offers us the opportunity to fully monitor our workflow to increase efficiency.”
