The growing demand for clean-label products and increasing regulatory scrutiny around synthetic dyes such as Red 3 have shifted focus to natural alternatives. GNT, a global leader in plant-based colour innovation, is addressing this shift with its EXBERRY® range of non-GMO, plant-derived colours.

Visitors at Booth #S1825 during IFT FIRST 2025 (13–16 July, Chicago) can explore the versatility of EXBERRY® through an interactive experience called “Colour your snack adventure.” This engaging concept showcases bold, plant-derived colours paired with unique flavour offerings, demonstrating EXBERRY®’s limitless potential. Snack bases will be transformed with options such as:

  • Pizza Ranch (orange)
  • Honey Miso (yellow)
  • Dill Pickle (green)
  • Hibiscus Chilli (purple)
  • Passionfruit Orange Guava (pink)

“More than just a flavour playground, our snack bar is a proof of concept showing how EXBERRY® brings vibrant innovation to life,” says Alice Lee, Technical marketing manager at GNT USA.

Meeting clean-label expectations

As an ideal replacement for FD&C dyes, EXBERRY® plant-based colours are made entirely from non-GMO fruits, vegetables, and edible plants. These natural ingredients are processed using clean water to create colours that comply with simple South African label declarations, such as “fruit and vegetable juice for colour.”

With their versatility, EXBERRY® colours can be used across a diverse range of applications—from snacks to dairy and carbonated drinks—helping brands simplify formulation challenges while maintaining consumer appeal.
