2017 New Product Competition winners announced

Returning to The Venue Greenpark in Sandton, Johannesburg, the Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Review/Symrise New Product Competition awards was another one for the history books.

This is especially true for Henkel South Africa, which took the top prize for its Schwarzkopf Professional BC Repair Rescue Nutri-Shield Serum. Named the overall winner of the 2017 P&C Review/Symrise New Product Competition, the judges said the product’s formulation was ‘beautifully executed’ and the packaging has ‘superior print quality’, is ‘well designed’ and incorporates a ‘great choice of materials’.

A representative from Henkel SA will be travelling to Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2018, to attend in-cosmetics Global, which is taking place from 17 to 19 April.

A brief look at the competition

Now in its 10th year, the NPC aims to give local and international brands that are supplied on the South African market, an opportunity to showcase their innovative new products.

The judging panel for the 2017 competition included formulation experts Robyn Brown (Botanichem) and Elizna Hurter (Skinchem); technical and regulatory specialist, Jill Gardiner and Percy Sibanda (L’Oréal South Africa); packaging gurus Clive Glover and Tony de Beer, and marketing specialist, Adele du Toit (Annique).
