The Health Products Association of South Africa (HPASA) has appointed Wayne Robinson as its director of scientific and regulatory affairs. In this new role, he will also act as spokesperson for the HPASA regarding all legislative matters.
Robinson has extensive insight into and experience in the manufacturing of complementary and alternative medicines (CAMS) and health products. He qualified with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of the Witwatersrand and cum laude in production management from the Production Management Institute of Southern Africa.
Intense knowledge of the industry
He has 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and CAMS industries, and is knowledgeable regarding manufacturing, distribution, regulation and sales within this dynamic market.
Robinson’s experience has been gained from working at various companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Alliance Pharmaceuticals, Pharma Natura, GNLD and Azochem Laboratories. He has worked in South Africa, East and West Africa, Europe and America, and firmly believes that the South African manufacturing industry is capable of matching the quality and expertise in first world environments.
He is currently employed at Azochem Laboratories, a leading CAMS manufacturer and contract packer, where he held the title of operations director since 2009 and is now the sales and technical director. In this role, he deals directly with clients, product development and regulatory issues.
