IntrinsiCurly Me promises frizz-free curls no matter the weather

When IntrinsiCurly Me launched its Hold Me Baby Curly Hair Gel in April 2021, it was a love letter to curls in rainy weather; curls walking on the beach; and curls in hot, humid cities. The South African hair care brand has entered the Hold Me Baby Curly Hair Gel in the 2020/2021 P&C Review / Symrise New Product Competition.

The brand’s message was simple: “We see you curls. And we want you to shine” – it also wanted curls to be defined and frizz-free, to last all day and to move and bounce.

Founded by Simonne Solarsh (a curly girl herself), the fire in IntrinsiCurly Me’s belly is simple – to allow curly haired people to love themselves and their hair, intrinsically. Solarsh knows the struggle that wavy, curly and coily hair can be.

Addressing the needs of curly hair

“Is today the day my hair lets me down… again?” is what curly and coilies think. Whether it’s for a job interview, family braai or a second date, many curly haired people feel controlled by their hair and defined by it.

“Does it seem unprofessional; do I look like I’ve made no effort; should I just have straightened it?” are everyday anxieties in the mind of a curly. These are the reasons why IntrinsiCurly Me created its incredible Hold Me Baby Curly Hair Gel, which is exactly what the curly world needs.

A hair product that ticks all the boxes

  • Can the gel help to minimize frizz, provide definition and hold even in humid and rainy weather? Check.
  • Can it help turn a bird’s nest into a peacock’s plume? Yip.
  • Can it assist in retaining moisture and adding shine, making every hair day feel like a salon day? Check, again.
  • Can it do all this (without a feeling of tackiness or stiffness) while still giving curls movement? You betcha.

This innovative salon professional gel works in dry or humid climates alike. Unlike most other gels used in the curl communities, Hold Me Baby Curly Hair Gel leaves hair feeling moisturised. The combination of jojoba oil, chia and flaxseed preserves hair’s natural oiliness, while still providing softness. It can help maintain curl formation and minimise frizz in all conditions. While it dries with a slight cast (which should be scrunched out), the gel leaves curls soft and defined with no flaky residue on hair or clothes. Easily rinsed out, it is reactivated with water to help restyle curls on day two and three, which is every curly haired person’s dream!

IntrinsiCurly Me’s Hold Me Baby Curly Hair Gel can beat frizz with all-day hold, putting the spring back into curls (and steps) – whatever the weather. The gel is available from various stockists in 100ml and 250ml pack sizes. A list of stockists is available on the IntrinsiCurly Me website.
