Celebrating a string of firsts, the L’Oréal Professional African Salon Institute (LPASI) is pleased to announce its ‘One Campaign’.
LPASI opened its doors in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, in February 2014. The aim of the institute is to contribute to enhanced professionalism in South Africa’s hair care industry by improving the training methodologies, knowledge and proficiency of students working with all hair types.
Knowledge is power
Since its inception, LPASI has provided an environment for students to gain valuable knowledge and practical skills. In its first year of operation, LPASI awarded candidates bursaries in collaboration with NGOs and industry mentors. According to the institute, this bursaries’ initiative will continue in the future to recognise brilliance, commitment and dedication to the science of hair.
LPASI also gained recognition when it won first place in the Best Hair and Beauty Institute/Academy in Africa categories at the #AIHE Awards.
On the cards in 2015
In the spirit of raising the bar in hair expertise and science, LPASI will be introducing short courses into its 2015 curriculum. These short courses will provide individuals in the professional hair industry with an opportunity to hone their basic technical skills, or an introduction to universal hair services and business skills.
Many milestones in one year
Charmaine Joubert, business unit manager at the institute, says: ‘We are extremely proud that we have reached this milestone, and remain committed to producing more new generation stylists who are entrepreneurial, highly skilled and passionate about the hair industry, and we want to continue with Eugene Scheuller’s dream to keep this industry sustainable and alive.
Commemorating one year in operation, LPASI is recognising all the ways in which it has been a pioneer in the professional hair industry. These include:
- being the first L’Oréal Institute in Africa
- the first local institute to educate students on all hair types
- awarding its first group of certified stylists with a 100 per cent job placement rate.
This theme of firsts will carry LPASI into the coming year.
