Evonik launches new technical centre for food industry

Evonik launches new silica technical centre in MidrandEvonik has launched its new silica technical centre in Midrand. The facility will service both regional clients and those in sub Saharan Africa, and customers can request the evaluation of their products using Sipernat and Aerosil silica products. To date, the facility has worked with clients and projects from South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia and Senegal.

According to Alyson Bennett, applied technologist, resource efficiency at Evonik the facility also offers the following services, ‘Using Sipernat and Aerosil silica we can analyse flow parameters, anti-caking, particle size distribution, dust, carrying capacity and many others. The main technical focus is on food powders and also on converting liquids into powders. Our main objective is to keep consistent results that are accurately translated to the customer’s needs. We are also focused on an open adaptable project process, which can lead to further innovations and patents,’ she explains.
