There’s less than one week to go until Propak West Africa 2019 opens its doors and with the Conference line-up finally revealed, discover what there is to look forward to during the seventh edition of West Africa’s largest packaging, plastics, printing and processing exhibition.

Taking place between 17 and 19 of September this year, visitors and exhibitors alike will come together in their thousands to experience the very latest the industry has to offer. Organisers have already confirmed the show’s growth since 2018 at 25 per cent bigger with over 200 brands on display and they expect a similar growth in visitors with an expected 4 500 professionals in attendance.

Taking a closer look at the programme for 2019 day-by-day, we’ll give a brief overview here of the themes and who’s set to take the stage.

The theme for the first day of the Conference this year will be ‘Environmental Sustainability: Being Responsible’. As a hot topic amongst packaging and plastics professionals all over the world, organisers are looking to shed some light on potential pitfalls and opportunities for sustainable materials in packaging. With representatives from the Nigerian Import Promotion Council (NIPC), the National Association for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), each session will provide tangible advice and insight into the current trends in the market.

Among the keynote sessions for Day one will be ‘Green Foreign Direct Investment: Opportunities in Packaging in Nigeria’, by Emeka Offor, director strategic communications for the NIPC and ‘Environmental Sustainability: The importance of reducing the impact of post consumption waste in Nigeria’, a panel discussion moderated by PwC with participants from the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), the International Climate Change Development Initiative, the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) and Tempo Group.

For the second day, the Conference will address prominent issues and trends affecting the packaging industry as a whole. Visitors can expect to see key sessions such as an ‘Overview of the West African Packaging Industry: 2019 – 2020’ as well as ‘Financing Options to Scale your Business within the Manufacturing & Agro-Processing Space’. Further to these key conferences, there will be a number of interesting panel sessions on day two with participants from BASF, Bosch Nigeria, Dow Chemical Company, Promasidor, SGS Inspection Services Nigeria and more. The likes of Sasol, Nigerian Breweries and PwC will also take to the stage on Day two.

The third and final day of Propak’s Conference will combine workshop-style sessions with panel discussions to create an engaging day of educational content. Prominent sessions for Day three include ‘Aseptic Technology and its role in Food Safety and Creating a Sustainable environment’ by Tetra Pak West Africa and a panel session on ‘Emerging Trends shaping the future of the Printing & Packaging Industry’, moderated by Numbers CMYK Limited, this session will include panellists from Heidelberg, Print Equipment Ltd., and Rovisa Ventures.
