Plain and extraordinary skin care solutions

The range of products from Ordinary SkincareDeveloped on the basis of providing consumers with ‘honest skin care products’, the Cape Town-based company Ordinary Skincare offers two ranges: Plain Ordinary and Extra Ordinary. Products in the plain range are hypoallergenic and said to be suitable for the most sensitive of skins. The latter range contains something ‘extra’, such as UV filters or a light fragrance.

Furthermore, the four core products from Ordinary Skincare are available as testers in novel Easysnap packaging, which is a South African invention and a brilliant way to try skin care products.

The dream team

Ordinary Skincare is the brainchild of Dr Claire Jamieson and Robert Rae. Dr Jamieson was responsible for formulating the range with its target market (dry and sensitive skins) clearly in mind, while Rae, a top chemical industry executive, manages the business side of things. He is experienced in providing considerate service and being honest in all business dealings, and knows the importance of developing consistent, effective and quality products.

More about the products

Together, Dr Jamieson and Rae concentrated on using a selection of ingredients that are proven to be the least allergenic in the design and development of Ordinary Skincare products. These include a soap-free cleanser, a day cream, an eye cream, moisturising balm, a night cream, and a second day cream with UV protection.

According to Dr Jamieson, all of the products are available anywhere in South Africa within three days of ordering online via the Ordinary Skincare website. ‘We are also available in a range of select stores, now including a recent launch in Wellness Warehouse in Kloof Street, Cape Town,’ she adds. ‘We sell internationally, and our products have passed the EU Safety Assessment to the most recent standard. In the EU we sell on line, either via our .com website, or through Amazon.’

Ordinary Skincare products are manufactured in Cape Town. The company makes use of local suppliers for its raw materials and packaging components. ‘Our packaging is also recyclable – and features airless pumps where practical for the obvious hygiene benefit – and to ensure the product is identical from first use to last. Furthermore, this helps it stay in the container when you travel,’ Dr Jamieson concludes.
