Platform for independent wealth manager financial advisers launched

Mickey Gambale

INN8, the first investment platform business of its kind in South Africa, has officially launched.

Built with independent wealth manager financial advisers in mind, INN8 is inspired by global investment trends and focused on delivering international benchmark platform services that incorporate a client-centric approach that advisers can intrinsically relate to.

Market research found that financial advisers want a technology partner that frees up time so they can focus on doing what they do best: advising clients.

As a result, the first component of INN8’s proposition is a leading edge offshore investment platform offering IFAs unparalleled functionality supported by exceptional service.

Said CEO of INN8 and Director of STANLIB Fund Managers Jersey Limited, Mickey Gambale: “We set out to build a truly offshore platform that will allow investors and wealth managers to add value to their business and to better service their clients, while minimising the administrative burden and keeping the regulators happy.

“The world is digital, and consumers want to be connected in real time through responsive, high tech investment management solutions. Our initial offshore offering also recognises that South Africa, as a financial destination, represents less than 1% of the global marketplace.

“We wanted INN8 to bring the world to the clients of South African IFAs using future-proof technology that revolutionises the client experience, delivering a solution that is accurate, efficient and elegant.”

INN8’s offshore investment account facilitates investment in a broad spectrum of offshore collective investment schemes across a range of six currencies, giving access to a broad range of global funds. It offers a simple, transparent and easy-to-understand platform fee structure that Gambale says delivers real value for money.

For those whose focus is on investing in South Africa, INN8 will be launching its second proposition, an onshore investment platform, towards the end of 2018.

“Platforms have transformed the investment landscape, simplifying administration and significantly increasing investment choice. We have sought to take that journey further by creating an efficient online service that incorporates functionality for on-boarding and model portfolio services, and that smoothly integrates into independent financial advisers’ business processes,” says COO Caroline Naylor-Renn.

Gambale noted that, over the past decade, South Africans have become increasingly aware of the benefits to be gained from investing offshore, including diversification away from South Africa’s relatively small and concentrated economy, as well as our volatile currency.

“By directing funds offshore, investors gain exposure to multiple markets in multiple currencies, while accessing different industries, interest rate, inflation regimes and stronger economies. The opportunity for tactical asset management is also enhanced.

“With the right advice and support investors can explore a great many more opportunities which can deliver varying levels of risk and return. Investing offshore also allows South Africans to guard against political risk.”
