Water scarcity is a challenge which is only set to escalate globally. According to the World Wildlife Fund South Africa’s (WWF-SA) 2016 report entitled ‘Water: Facts and Futures… Rethinking South Africa’s Water Future’, more than a third of the country’s water is lost through leakages and theft, a part of which can be addressed with the implementation of quality piping.
This increased vulnerability of water resources and escalating need for the sustainable building has prompted developers to utilise reliable piping solutions that prevent water leakages and minimise the need for ongoing maintenance. This is why stakeholders of Kenton – residential development in Bergbron, Johannesburg – chose to go with the superior Rifeng piping systems.
Construction of the 68-unit development took 10 months, with the final touches completed in June 2019. Located in Bergbron, Roodepoort, the Kenton project involved Renico Construction with expert work done by Nembwe Plumbing and D&G Bathroom and Plumbing Supplies. Rifeng was selected to supply and oversee the installation of all water supply pipes and fittings.
“While the extensive lifespan and energy-saving capabilities of Rifeng’s pipes have made them a preferred option for any water-conscious developments, it’s the ongoing service offered that sets us apart,” explained Glenn Fisher, National Sales Manager of Rifeng Southern Africa.
“For the Kenton development – and all projects that include Rifeng products – we are on hand, providing ongoing support and onsite installation training. For this project, we worked closely with Nembwe Plumbing and D&G Bathroom and Plumbing Supplies for the piping installation. It was important to all stakeholders that we were in constant contact at every point of need.”
This superior piping system has a number of inherent benefits for the residential, commercial and industrial developments. Some of the product benefits of Rifeng include:
- A smooth inner composition which prevents corrosion with a 20-year no-corrosion guarantee.
- An extended lifespan of the pipe (approximately 80 years) which means less maintenance required.
- The smooth flow of hot water through the piping and inner layer of aluminium allows for heat retention, saving on energy costs.
- The smooth flow also allows hot water to reach the point of demand sooner, preventing water waste through delay.
- There are significant savings over traditional copper piping.
- Every joint is 100% guaranteed leak-free.
Rifeng piping products adhere to local South African National Standards Bureau (SABS) specifications as well as global standards, boasting more than 50 certifications worldwide.
