The labels division of Bidvest Data Print and Packaging, Rotolabel, recently acquired two new companies, S&N Labels andBartrans. The acquisition was finalised in September 2017. Wicus Maritz, chief executive at Rotolabel discusses motivations behind the purchase.
S&N Labels is a specialist in blank and barcode labels. The acquisition further expands the division’s product offerings.
Colin Adendorff, CEO at Bidvest Data Print and Packaging says the company identified a management team at S&N Labels that could add extra value to its label offering.
‘This is a great business that brings a culture of excellent service and great customer relationships. It adds a range of products we were not strong in. The acquisition adds great value to the organisation as a whole,’ he explains.
A major benefit, according to Maritz, is the expansion of Rotolabel’s product offering. ‘We are able to offer customers a “one-stop shop” to meet their specific requirements regarding labels and associated services. Having the financial backing of Bidvest will allow Bartrans to explore various projects in the supply of scanners and barcoding solutions in the warehousing and logistics space.’
How Bartrans fits into the acquisition
Rotolabel has always had a technical offering. This included agencies for supplying and servicing its Toshiba and Datamax printers. Its technical offering extends to the supply of thermal transfer ribbons, selling and servicing of METO price-marking tools, and turnkey projects regarding label application equipment.
Bartrans supplies handheld barcode scanners, mobile computers, barcode label printers and intrinsically safe barcode and mobility solutions. Its products are specifically designed for automatic identification applications such as electronic proof of delivery and direct store delivery, field service, inventory tracking and asset management.
Bartrans’ service and repair centre is fully equipped to carry out repairs and maintenance, and provide support for all Zebra, Honeywell, Datamax O’Neil and Intermec products.
‘By integrating the traditional Rotolabel technical department into Bartrans, we are able to offer a comprehensive portfolio of technical products and services which complements the labels side of the business,’ Maritz adds.
