Sidel’s StarLITE®-R STILL bottle base integrates 100% recycled PET, offering lightweight designs and high-speed production for versatile beverage packaging.

Sidel’s StarLITE®-R STILL
Sidel’s StarLITE®-R STILL stands as the sole market solution crafted specifically for recycled PET. It delivers the high performance required to thrive competitively. By expertly combining high production speed, varied material types, and lightweight bottle design, it tackles complex challenges manufacturers face in maintaining peak performance. StarLITE®-R STILL achieves this through precise bottle shaping and efficient material distribution. The innovative design integrates seamlessly with existing production lines, offering unmatched versatility, while the solution’s low blowing pressure enhances its sustainability.
High Performance with Patented Technology
The StarLITE®-R STILL bottle base embodies Sidel’s patented technology. This design features gentle stretching and precise material distribution, optimised for effective ventilation during shaping. It includes a state-of-the-art base cooling circuit, ideal for rPET processing at elevated temperatures. The new design safeguards the base from deformation or breakage, which is crucial for preserving bottle integrity during production, conveyor distribution, storage, transport, and use. Its rounded edge base mould design eases shaping during blow moulding, enhancing resistance against defects like breakage, particularly in lightweight bottles.
Economic and sustainability benefits
The high base design ensures structural resilience and functionality, even under thermal stress. This base performs reliably during high-speed production thanks to its efficient cooling, preventing deformation and defects. The manufacturing process reduces blowing pressure by up to 20% through StarLITE®-R STILL’s improved base mould ventilation. Designed slots and vents ensure optimal air escape, allowing precise bottle shaping at reduced pressure levels, thus cutting energy consumption and costs without sacrificing quality. By switching from virgin PET to 100% rPET, manufacturers achieve an annual reduction of 2,400 tonnes in CO² equivalent emissions.

Cost Efficiency
This bottle base operates effectively at pressures as low as 16 bar, a 20% decrease from standard procedures, saving 51 tonnes of CO² equivalent and €205,000 annually. It supports a wide range of bottle weights, including ultra-light bottles as light as 7g for 500ml formats.
StarLITE®-R STILL versatility
Sidel’s latest StarLITE®-R bottle base enhances versatility. It’s compatible with round, round-square, and rectangular bottles in single or multi-portion sizes from 0.25 L to 2.5 L and accommodates both white and clear PET. It integrates effortlessly into existing production lines, enabling high-speed production across multiple bottle formats. Single-format production reaches up to 2,700 bottles per machine per hour, with multi-portion formats achieving up to 2,400 bottles per hour. The StarLITE®-R STILL supports both virgin PET and rPET in production using Sidel’s EvoBLOW, Universal, and Series 2 blowers.
Expansion of the StarLITE®-R range
The optimised bottle base adds to Sidel’s prestigious StarLITE®-R range, joining peers like the StarLITE®-R for carbonated soft drinks (CSD), StarLITE®-R Nitro, and StarLITE®-R Premium. The original variant for carbonated beverages marked Sidel’s first rPET-specific solution, offering enhanced protection against deformation, improved stability, and increased resistance to breakage. In 2024, Sidel introduced StarLITE®-R Nitro, a robust solution for nitrogen-applied still products in 100% rPET bottles, and StarLITE®-R Premium, a high-performance, elegant base for standout 100% rPET bottles.
