Foster International Packaging is continuously seeking new ways to improve the sustainability of its packaging.
On 2 December 2021, O F Packaging – the Australian sister company of Foster International Packaging – merged with Close The Loop to form Close The Loop Group. The merger has resulted in Foster International Packaging becoming part of a division within the new group.

Located globally, Close The Loop Group (CTLG) aims to convert the linear economy of ‘take, make, waste’, which is followed by most consumers and businesses, to a circular economy. The latter follows a ‘reuse, repair, remanufacture and recycling’ process to reduce the creation of waste. The group is focused on closing the recycling loop and aims to do so by creating end-to-end solutions across the creation, collection and recovery of packaging and other difficult-to-recycle materials, like printer cartridges, toners, eyewear and cosmetics etc. – ultimately providing these materials with new life.
The merger supports innovative product development as well as end-of-life take back and recovery programmes for packaging and other difficult-to-recycle items to reduce waste to landfill. This aids in the creation of end-to-end solutions across the packaging value chain.
Sustainable alternatives available locally
In South Africa, the sustainability market is growing at a steady pace, as more and more consumers are becoming eco-conscious. This is why the demand for sustainable packaging is increasing.
Foster Packaging aims to target this market by providing sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging. In line with being a division of CTLG, the international company fully supports the vision of achieving zero waste to landfill. For this reason, Foster Packaging is continuously seeking new ways to improve the sustainability of its packaging.
A goal at Foster Packaging is to grow and collaborate with clients by providing supporting services and expertise throughout the packaging and sustainability space. It’s not only about the end product, but also about forming a partnership to ensure the best outcomes in all situations.

Committed to a circular economy
Foster Packaging is committed to achieving a circular economy and aims to do so by moving away from single-use plastic and by providing quality sustainable packaging solutions that reduce its carbon footprint.
The company offers sustainable alternatives for stand up, flat bottom, kraft, spout, quad seal, three-side seal, retort, and reel packaging. It also supplies compostable packaging, which biodegrades within a short amount of time in composting conditions. The materials used in each compostable product pack will decompose in less than six months, effectively reducing waste that comes from non-compostable plastics and other traditional packaging. Foster Packaging recommends compostable packaging primarily for single-use packs.
