Interbuild Africa is the largest and longest running building services and construction exhibition in Africa. This event, which is dedicated to Africa’s SME building services and construction market, will celebrate its 50th anniversary when it returns to the Johannesburg Expo Centre (JEC), at Nasrec, Johannesburg, from 15-18 August 2018.
Interbuild Africa was launched in Johannesburg during 1968, as Interbou, and has served South Africa’s building and construction industry for over five decades, to become the largest trade show of its kind on the African continent.
According to Sven Smit, Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, Interbuild Africa, along with its co-located shows, is the definitive showcase for the full spectrum of building, construction and related industries. “These shows offer exhibitors unparalleled access to an international audience of key industry buyers and influential decision-makers,” he says. “The show’s visitors are also provided with ample opportunity to source that latest industry products and services, and benefit from the show’s wide range of educational content in the form of seminars, workshops and conferences,” added Smit.
As Interbuild Africa reaches this major 50th milestone, the local building services and construction, industry is starting to reap the rewards of the changing economic landscape, which has seen the local industry weather some tough economic conditions in recent years.
“The tide is turning for small to medium building services contractors,” says Smit. “The local construction sector has shown itself as an important segment for infrastructural development, employment opportunities and economic transformation,” he says. “We are seeing ample opportunities for emerging building contractors in an industry, which was once dominated by major players, and it’s these emerging contractors, who make up the majority of visitors to Interbuild Africa and its co-located shows,” he added.
Each year the show sees over 350 local and international exhibitors connect with thousands of senior buyers and decision-makers who come to view and source the latest industry innovations and connect with other leading industry experts.
Interbuild Africa offers the ideal platform for exhibitors to launch the latest products and services to thousands of buyers and senior decision-makers. The event showcases a broad range of products, services and new innovations in the building and design environments for residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
The show’s profile of visitors includes: architects, quantity surveyors, land surveyors, draughtsmen, engineers, production managers, foremen and artisans, building contractors and sub-contractors, as well as government officials.
Interbuild Africa is supported by several highly respected industry bodies, including: Master Builders South Africa (MBSA), The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS), The South African Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (Saiosh), The Association of Architectural Aluminium Manufacturers of South Africa (AAAMSA) as well as the South African Glass and Glazing Association (SAGGA).
These industry associations have partnered with the show organisers, Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, to run a series of conferences and workshops alongside the exhibition, which provides a great deal of additional value to the show’s exhibitors and visitors as well.
Interbuild Africa’s free-to-attend seminar programme runs daily and is open to all visitors at the show. Some of the topics at this year’s show include:
- The evolution of SA’s construction industry,
- Reshaping the local industry landscape,
- 2018 trips and trends in plumbing,
- Bullet-proof strategies for building your business,
- Successful tendering,
- Green building trends, and
- How virtual reality is changing the construction landscape.
“Interbuild Africa, together with its co-located shows, offers visitors unparalleled access to the widest range of building and building services products and innovations, as well as the opportunity to learn about the latest industry trends and technology,” concluded Smit.
