Van Acht Windows and Doors was founded 37 years ago by Phillip and Mariana van Achterbergh. What started as sourcing wooden windows from Cape Town for their family home on a small holding quickly turned into an opportunity for a new business, as they realised there was no competition for Wooden Windows in the Johannesburg area.
Within a short time, the demand for wooden windows from Van Acht grew exponentially. As a result, the Company was quickly outgrowing storage and office space on the small holding and had to move to bigger premises in the Kya Sand Industrial area. Eventually, Van Acht started manufacturing wooden windows and doors, and the exceptional quality standard set the Van Acht brand in motion to become a proudly South-African household name.
Today the Company boasts four beautiful showrooms and a large manufacturing plant in Krugersdorp. Many factors played a crucial role in the growth and vitality of the business throughout the years; first and foremost was the founder’s ability to invest every penny back into the business and focus on the vision of producing the best quality windows and doors rather than focusing on mass production.
This family business, now well into its second generation, has expanded its range of products to include quality aluminium windows and doors, uPVC windows and doors, Garage doors and a range of unique entrance doors. The secret to Van Acht’s success is a customer-oriented focus, constant improvement, and innovative designs. Of course, the stability of the economy and product needs may change. Still, one thing remains constant: Van Acht’s commitment to supplying innovative, high-quality windows and doors to South Africa and the African continent.
