Dr Malikah Van der Schyff is the immediate past president of the South African Menopause Society and an experienced gynaecologist and obstetrician who has practiced at MediClinic Constantiaberg for over 20 years. She has a broad range of special interests within gynaecology, including polycystic ovary syndrome, minimally invasive surgery, and midlife women’s health. As a senior leader in multiple obstetrics and gynaecology special interest groups, Dr Van der Schyff continues to champion public and political change in the field, with a strong focus on advancing ethical standards and improving the quality of care in women’s health and medicine.

Dr Peter A Chedraui

  • Obstetrician and Gynecologist
Dr Peter Chedraui is Research Professor at Universidad Espíritu Santo, Ecuador, and Past President of the Ecuadorian Menopause Society. He has served multiple terms on the boards of the International Menopause Society (IMS), the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS), and the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology (ISGE). He is Editor-in-Chief of Gynecological Endocrinology and Associate Editor of Climacteric. His research focuses on women’s health across reproductive and non-reproductive stages, with emphasis on pre-eclampsia, obesity, metabolic syndrome, menopausal symptoms, and cardiovascular risk, supported by over 260 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr Alan Peter

  • Pulmonologist
Dr Peter, who will be hosting the webinar, completed his MBBCh at Wits University and became a Fellow of the College of Physicians of South Africa in 2002. He obtained a sub-specialty certificate in Pulmonology in 2009. Currently, he serves as a principal specialist, physician, and pulmonologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, where he is also the clinical head of a unit in Internal Medicine.
