Professor Leon Cornelius Snyman is the current Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, and Professor in the Gynaecologic Oncology Unit and Department Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Pretoria. He is a registered gynaecologic oncologist with a special interest in minimal access surgery. Prof Snyman is Head of the Endoscopy training Unit at the Department Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of Pretoria and a certified Da Vinci robotic surgeon. He is experienced in minimally access surgery in the surgical treatment of gynaecological cancers and sentinel lymph node biopsy. Professor Snyman’s research interests include cervical cancer, HPV, sentinel lymph node mapping and laparoscopic surgery. He has been actively involved in several international clinical trials and research projects and he has presented at numerous national and international conferences. Prof Snyman has co-authored chapters in multiple medical textbooks. He is the co- editor of “Essential Gynaecology” a text book for medical students. He is the editor of the peer reviewed journal “African Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology”. Prof Snyman serves as reviewer for several international journals.
