Dr Lyon graduated with a first-class degree in Physiological Sciences from Oxford University in 1995 before completing his medical training at the John Radcliffe Medical School.   He specialised in Cardiology through training in Oxford, the Royal Brompton Hospital, and Sydney, Australia. His research focused on cardiac gene therapy's impact on ventricular arrhythmias, leading to a PhD and a postdoctoral position at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.   Dr Lyon joined Imperial College in 2008 and became a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Cardiologist in 2012. His clinical interests include heart failure and chemotherapy cardiomyopathy.   He leads heart failure research at the Royal Brompton Hospital and is involved in pioneering myocardial gene therapy trials. Dr Lyon's research spans chemotherapy cardiomyopathy, biological heart failure therapies, Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, mitochondrial dysfunction, and abnormal calcium physiology.   He holds several professional roles and has received prestigious awards for his contributions to cardiovascular research. Dr Lyon has secured substantial research funding, supervised numerous PhD students, and published extensively in myocardial biology.
