Prof Fasanmade Olufemi Adetola
Endocrinologist
Prof Adetola obtained his Bachelor of medicine (MB, BS) in June 1987. He passed all the preliminary science and medical examinations at first sitting. He was Fellow of the West African college of surgeons (FWACS) in November 1996.
From December 1989 to October1994 he did his residency program in surgery. He passed thep rimary examinations of the West African Postgraduate Medical College at the first sitting. He was admitted into the Postgraduate Residency Program in Medicine at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
He passed the Part 1examinations of the West African Postgraduate Medical College and Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College at the first sitting at the earliest due date in October 1991.
He had Further medicine training as Senior Registrar cadre at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He passed the Part 2 final exam of the West African Postgraduate Medical College after 5 Years of rigorous training in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. In October 1996 he became Fellow of the American College of Endocrinologists (FACE), and an international member in May 2008.
Dr Joyce Wangechi Mbogo
Paediatrician
Dr Joyce Mbogo is Kenya and American Board of Pediatrics-certified paediatrician with a sub-specialty in paediatric endocrinology currently working at Kenyatta University as a lecturer at the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health.
She has solid clinical and research experience garnered in Kenya and the USA. She has also led efforts in training both medical and non-medical personnel on aspects on endocrinedisorders and diabetes.
She is a training director for the Allied Healthcare Diabetes Educator course for Africa (ADECA).
Dr Ankia Coetzee
Physician
Dr Ankia Coetzee is a leading consultant physician and subspecialist endocrinologist, currently associated with Stellenbosch University, Tygerberg Hospital, and a private practice in Cape Town. With over a decade of experience, she has distinguished herself in the field of endocrinology, focusing on diabetes in pregnancy and complex endocrine disorders.
Dr Coetzee holds an MBChB from the University of Pretoria, an M.Med in Internal Medicine, and an M.Phil in Endocrinology from Stellenbosch University. She recently submitted her Ph.D. for examination, with a focus on hyperglycaemia in pregnancy, demonstrating her commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
In her academic role, Dr Coetzee teaches and mentors both undergraduate andpostgraduate students at Stellenbosch University. She is known for her collaborative approach, often working in multidisciplinary teams and speaking at international conferences. Her research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters, earning her various academic awards and nominations. Dr Coetzee's dedication to patient care and her innovative research make her a key figure in South African medicine. Through her ongoing work, she continues to contribute to the understanding and treatment of endocrine disorders.
