Dr Kavita Makan is a rheumatologist and specialist physician, practicing at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. She is an executive member and treasurer of (SARAA) The South African Rheumatism and Arthritis Association. Her major clinical and research interest is systemic lupus erythematosus, particularly the genetic basis of disease and biomarkers of disease onset and activity.

Dr. CN Osunkwo is a board-registered medical doctor based in Cape Town, South Africa, and a graduate of Stellenbosch University. He has over six years of clinical experience across both public and private healthcare systems, with a strong foundation in primary care and general practice. Over the past six years, he has worked extensively in community-based and GP settings, managing a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions across all age groups. This experience has strengthened his clinical judgement, independent decision-making, and ability to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care. In addition to primary care, his background includes emergency medicine and acute surgical exposure in high-acuity environments. He has developed a particular interest in trauma surgery, acute-care general surgery, critical care, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
