Dr Letier is a Physician and Gastroenterologist in Private practice at Constantiaberg Mediclinic in Cape Town since 2000. He did his Undergraduate and Registrar training at UCT and Groote Schuur hospital and subsequently worked in rural hospitals in the Eastern Cape as well as Livingstone hospital in Port Elizabeth before spending 2 years in Canada in the early 1990’s. In his Registrar and early GI consultant career, he was lead or co-investigator in a number of clinical trials on PPI therapy and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He held an Honorary consultant Gastroenterologist position at the UCT/GSH complex in the past and is still involved in Postgraduate CME programs for GP’s, Physicians and Pharmacists. His research and career interests include gastro-oesophageal reflux and asthma, IBS, liver diseases, medical management of surgical patients and various other aspects of gastroenterology.
