Jacobs is a Specialist Dermatologist with a strong academic foundation and a passion for patient-centred dermatological care. She completed her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Pretoria in 2008. Pursuing her interest in dermatology, she underwent specialist training at the University of Pretoria, where she earned both the Fellowship of the College of Dermatologists of South Africa and a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Dermatology, graduating Cum Laude. In recognition of her outstanding academic achievements, Dr Jacobs was awarded the prestigious Peter-Gordon-Smith Award, presented to the top-performing candidate in the Fellowship examination of the College of Dermatologists of South Africa. Her MMed research, which focused on the quality of life of patients with blistering skin diseases, earned further acclaim when it was recognised at the Dermatology for Africa Conference in 2018. Dr Jacobs plays an active role in the training of future dermatologists as a part-time lecturer and consultant at the University of Pretoria's Department of Dermatology. She is deeply committed to continuous learning and evidence-based care and has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international dermatology conferences. Her clinical practice spans the full spectrum of general medical dermatology, with particular expertise in the detection and treatment of skin cancer and the management of complex dermatological conditions. She is known for her thoughtful, individualised approach to treatment, working closely with her patients to ensure the best outcomes for their skin health. Dr Jacobs is also a trusted voice in the public domain, frequently sharing expert dermatology insights through various media channels. Her contributions appear regularly in Aesthetic and Aging and Longevity magazines, Health24, as well as on TV and radio platforms. Her dedication to patient care, academic excellence, and public education continues to make Dr Tarryn Jacobs a respected figure in South African dermatology.
