GENERAL PRACTITIONER • FAMCARE • SINCE 2017 Dr Thoresen has been practicing as a general practitioner in East London, Eastern Cape, since 2017. His practice focuses primarily on the management of allergic and autoimmune conditions. INTERNSHIP/COMMUNITY SERVICE • 2014 - 2016 He completed his internship in 2014 and 2015 at Frere and Cecelia Makiwane Hospitals. In 2016, he concluded his community service year at the same institutions. During this time, he became affiliated with the Allergy Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) and the Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA). Since 2017, Dr. Thoresen has attended every ALLSA Congress to date. In 2024, he was invited as a speaker at the ALLSA Congress, where he delivered two presentations on asthma and chaired one of the sessions. SKILLS: Dr Thoresen has a strong interest in academics and education. He has experience in fundraising, working with medical funders, and preparing clinical motivation letters. SOCIAL RESPONSIVENESS: In 2017, he founded a charity initiative called Suiting Up for Charity. Each year, he has participated in the Ironman 70.3 race in East London while wearing a formal orange suit and tie, raising funds to support educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
