Dr Pillay is a distinguished dermatologist with extensive expertise in clinical practice, academia, and research. He earned his MBChB from the University of Pretoria, followed by specialization in dermatology at Wits University, where he achieved his MMed Derm and FC Derm (SA). Dr Pillay is deeply involved in research, with numerous publications, ongoing projects on atopic dermatitis guidelines, and supervision of MMed and PhD students. His teaching initiatives include overseeing dermatology registrars, launching postgraduate aesthetic programs, and conducting community outreach at Rahima Moosa Hospital. He is an active member of key dermatological societies and advisory boards, frequently presenting at national and international congresses. His public engagement extends to TV and radio, addressing dermatological conditions and serving on the COVID-19 management committee for dermatology. Among his accolades, Dr Pillay has received the Wits Research Prize and numerous academic honours, exemplifying his commitment to advancing dermatology and patient care.
